A Message from the President
Only at Tulane, only in New Orleans: that phrase means more today than ever before. I often tell prospective students that there has never been a more exciting time to be at Tulane than right now – when they can play an integral role in New Orleans post-Katrina renaissance.
When I talk to prospective students and their parents I find myself touching on three key areas that make the Tulane experience unique: people, place, and programs.
In terms of people, the students, faculty and staff at Tulane are re-committed to the Tulane and New Orleans community and exhibit a kind of school spirit not found on any other campus. Students here form real bonds with their fellow classmates and teachers because of the small classes and accessibility of faculty.
In the search for a place to attend college, New Orleans’ unique culture has always attracted dynamic applicants. Today, students are drawn not only to the fun of our city, but come here to make a real difference in people’s lives through service.
That brings us to the programs offered at Tulane. We offer outstanding breadth and depth of courses and majors, but combine them with real world experience through public service classes, internships, and research opportunities. Students leave Tulane having prepared for their career and learned about life inside and outside the classroom, giving them an edge in job and grad school interviews. Graduates of Tulane understand that the purpose of education is to use their knowledge and ideas to make the world a better place.
