NEWCOMB Fine Arts Quad
Previous Stop Next StopNewcomb Quad is the smaller of our two main academic quads. The Newcomb College Institute and a majority of the buildings that house the fine arts, humanities and social science departments are located here.
The Woldenberg Art Center is where you will find all of our visual art classrooms on campus. The building is divided into two wings: the Art History wing and the Art Studio wing. In addition to classrooms and studio space, the building features a large gallery for student and faculty work as well as the Pace-Willson Glass Studio, one of the finest glassblowing facilities in North America.
Dixon Hall is where many of Tulane's music and theatre performances take place. Dixon has many performing arts resources including recital rooms, practice rooms, an experimental theatre and a larger, more traditional theatre. Students do not have to be theatre, dance or music majors to participate in any of Tulane’s performance groups.
Newcomb Hall houses the administrative offices for the School of Liberal Arts as well as the departments of Philosophy, Communication, and Sociology. Newcomb Hall also houses all of Tulane's foreign language departments, and foreign language classes are complemented by the state of the art language laboratory on the fourth floor. The Study Abroad office are also located in Newcomb; students can visit the office for advice and guidance if they are thinking of participating in one of over 80 study abroad programs.
Newcomb College Institute is a dynamic, interdisciplinary, academic center designed to enhance women’s education at Tulane University. Established in July 2006, the Institute has supported undergraduate women and the Newcomb community by hosting events and speakers, funding student research projects, participating in community rebuilding, and hosting symposia and international summits.
