Monroe Hall and Wall Residential College

Previous Stop Next Stop

There are twelve residential dormitories on campus, and six are available for first year students to live in. With all students required to live on campus for their first two years, dorms become tight-knit communities: each has its own separate government, group of resident hall advisors and programming.

Monroe Hall is the largest all-freshmen dorm on campus. It was constructed in the mid-1960s and was recently renovated in 2004. The twelve-story, air-conditioned, coed facility offers panoramic views of the city and of campus from its rooms on the upper floors. Each double room contains two beds, two desks, two closets and two sets of drawers. Every floor has either a social or study lounge and two single-sex community bathrooms. Kitchen and laundry facilities are available as well.

Wall Residential College, Tulane’s newest dorm, is set up “suite-style,” meaning that every two double rooms in the dorm share a common bathroom. It is unique among Tulane's residential facilities because, in addition to housing undergraduates, it is also home to a faculty member and his or her family. This Professor in Residence helps students become more engaged in the intellectual and social activities at the University.
