Boasting 1,800 seats and the world’s largest self-suspended concrete dome, McAlister Auditorium is the largest venue on campus. Its stage has been graced by some of the most important and influential figures in politics, music, literature and entertainment.

Past speakers and performers include Al Gore, Colin Powell, Janet Reno, Madeline Albright, Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou, Spike Lee, Dane Cook, Ludacris and Jimmy Eat World. When not being used by celebrities, musicians and politicians, McAlister auditorium shows movies during the week, ($2 for students). McAlister is also home to the New Orleans Opera and the New Orleans Ballet and, in 2006, Tulane hosted the world premiere of the critically acclaimed film, All the King’s Men in McAlister.
