Gibson Hall
Previous Stop Next StopGibson Hall is one of the original buildings on Tulane's campus. Inside Gibson is the President’s office, the Provost’s office, the Office of Undergraduate Admission, the University Registrar and the office of the School of Continuing Studies. The Center for Public Service and the Department of Mathematics also have their offices in Gibson.
Located right on Saint Charles Avenue and the street car line, Gibson Hall is the administrative center of campus.
The Center for Public Service (CPS) coordinates all of the service learning classes and internships. After Hurricane Katrina, Tulane recognized that its students are an incredible resource to help with the rebuilding of New Orleans, and thus became one of the only universities in the country to make public service a graduation requirement. Although a large number of service learning courses are offered in a variety of disciplines each semester, CPS encourages students to find public service opportunities on their own and helps students set up the internship for credit.
On the fourth floor of Gibson, you’ll find the Math Department and several classrooms. Although Gibson is at the very front of campus, it’s only a ten minute walk from the dorms…not too bad, even for those early morning classes!
