Audubon Park and Magazine Street

Back to Tulane Admission Next Stop

Aside from offering a world-class academic experience and exciting on-campus student life, Tulane gives its students the opportunity to live in one of America’s most unique cities. Within walking distance of campus, you’ll find two of New Orleans’ most popular attractions: Audubon Park and Magazine Street.

If you walk through the academic quad and cross St. Charles Avenue, you’ll find yourself in the beautiful Audubon Park. With New Orleans's year-round mild weather, Audubon Park is the perfect recreation area, boasting open fields, an 18-hole golf course and a two-mile track for running and biking. Designed by the same firm that planned Central Park in New York City, the park is a popular area for students to both exercise and relax.

On the other side of the park is the beginning of Magazine Street, a four-mile eating and shopping paradise. This popular entertainment district has enough restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and coffee shops to keep students busy for four years, and it is also a favorite spot to watch the Irish Pride Parade during St. Patrick’s Day.
